Family Business Challenges

Starting a family business is a great way to get your foot in the door to owning a business of your own, and so much better when you can share the work with family.  But the family business is not like a regular business where you are an employee. There are special problems that arise when all the staff are related.

From the very beginning, one person needs to be in authority and this person is the one to make decisions.  If there are too many bosses, then trouble will certainly be created.  All those involved must know what their place is and what they responsibilities are. Only this way can family harmony take place.  It is often the parents that will override the children in a family run business and this can lead to hard feelings between members.

As the children grow and are finally able to have their place in the family business can be a very rewarding experience.  But these young members can become frustrated and choose to leave the company, no matter how devoted they are.
